Platform independent
Both Client and Server application are 100% pure Java applications and run
on every hardware platform that supports a VirtualMachine for Java2
(former JDK1.2).
Secure
128 Byte RC4 encoding of all important data, including user information,
passwords and configuration settings. Secure Socket Client/Server
communication (from version 2). Guarded Java Objects and Client
authentication (from version 2).
Location independent Data access
Reports are centrally stored at the Server and can be accessed from
anywhere. Server acts as central access point to all databases that are
accessible.
Distributable Reports
Once a report is created it is available as HTML file and can be easily
stored and distributed, for example via eMail, and can be viewed with every
browser. The created HTML files are completely independent and contain no
additional information except the displayed data.
Report Preview Browser
A browser to preview reports is included in the client application itself.
It allows to instantly check the result of changes at the report design
without the need of using external applications.
Intuitve User Interface
Both Client and Server application provide a Sate-Of-The-Art graphical
user interface that is designed to be intuitively used on all possible
hardware platforms. It includes dispatchable tool bars and status bar that
keep track of system environments and make them accessible to the user.
Easy creation of new reports
An easy to understand, three step interface guides users through the process
of creating a new report. From the choice of database connections and
fields that will be part of the report to the definition of data
restrictions and data joins.
Easy report design
An easy to use interface allows users to change the design of reports and
define functions and formats that will be used when displaying the report.
Report Headers and Footers
Every report supports HTML headers and footers for both the whole report and
single pages of the report. All HTML files can be used as header or footer
files, offering all the possibilities provided by HTML. This includes
images, different font sizes and so on...
Extensible Markup Language - XML
Rather then just putting data into simple textfiles, all data, including
report designs, is stored in a especially developed XML format that allows
fast data access by maintaining readability.
Concurrent Data access
The Server application allows multiple Clients to access data at the same
time while it maintains the data integrity and manages.
Access Monitoring
Administrators are constantly informed about the currently accessing
Clients and the operations they are performing. This adds another piece to
the security concept of this application.
Central Administration
The Server application acts as central tool that allows administrator to
both administrate users and database connections in a time saving way.
Access Restrictions
Access to certain databases, or even single tables within a database, can
be easily restricted to user or users groups. The Server applications offers
an interface to keep track of all those restrictions and change them
dynamically.
And many, many, more...
